| Research tools are understood to be essential to the study of the history of collecting. The Center, therefore, creates and maintains databases and bibliographies as the cornerstones for research in the field. These include an online directory of extant archives of dealers and collectors. The Center administers these and other research tools, creating new content for the databases and also coordinating contributions made by collaborating institutions, volunteers, and interns.
Lastly, a specific goal of the Center is compiling oral and video histories of collectors and dealers. To this end, consultation with colleagues at Columbia University and other libraries of the New York Art Resources Consortium (NYARC) is ongoing.
