Archives Assistant (part-time)

Background
The Frick Collection is an art museum consisting of more than 1,100 works of art from the thirteenth to the nineteenth century, displayed in the intimate surroundings of the former home of Henry Clay Frick.  The residence, with its furnishings and works of art, has been open to the public since 1935.  It is one of the world’s most perfect museums; its sister research institution the Frick Art Reference Library is of equal distinction.

Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the Archivists with processing and describing the archives of The Frick Collection, the Frick Art Reference Library, and the Helen Clay Frick Foundation.   The person in this position will also prepare finding aids for mounting on the institution’s web site, assist with reference queries, and provide occasional clerical assistance to the department.

Requirements
Minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree.  Preference will be given to candidates with experience or strong interest in archives or library science.  Background in art history, museum studies, or architectural history is also helpful.  Familiarity with the Archivists' Toolkit and other computer skills required.   Individual should also be able to lift to the waist and move boxes weighing as much as thirty to forty pounds.

Salary: $14.00/hour, 21 hours per week
