Background
The Frick Collection is an art museum consisting of more than 1,100 works of art from the thirteenth to the nineteenth century, displayed in the intimate surroundings of the former home of Henry Clay Frick. The residence, with its furnishings and works of art, has been open to the public since 1935. It is one of the world’s most perfect museums; its sister research institution the Frick Art Reference Library is of equal distinction.
Job Summary
Assists the Head of Education in day-to-day activities by overseeing and coordinating gallery programs, including support for the curatorial Lecture Series. Maintains budget and expense records. Organizes the departmental calendar, arranges meetings, helps to produce flyers, mailings, and other activities. Drafts correspondence and assists in telephone and email communication with the public. Establishes departmental files, keeps statistics, and does research on programming and program development as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in art history or related field. Strong organizational skills. Close attention to detail. Ability to work well as part of a team. Accurate typing/word processing, /minimum 50 words per minute. Computer literacy in a windows environment (including Excel), Raiser’s Edge experience useful. Budgeting/spreadsheet experience. Close attention to detail. Professional and pleasant telephone manner. Initiative, independence, discretion, a helpful attitude and a good sense of humor. Minimum of 3 years of office experience. Interest in arts education and building a new museum education program preferred.
