Sous Chef

Background
The Frick Collection is an art museum consisting of more than 1,100 works of art from the 13th to the 19th century, displayed in the intimate surroundings of the former home of Henry Clay Frick. The residence, with its furnishings and works of art, has been open to the public since 1935. It is one of the world's most perfect museums; its sister research institution the Frick Art Reference Library is of equal distinction

Job Summary
The Frick Collection provides luncheon service for approximately 150 employees five days/week. The kitchen also routinely prepares special luncheons and other meals for special events, the Director, Board of Directors, and their guests. The Sous Chef assists the Executive Chef in overseeing management of kitchen and dining facilities and menu planning. S/he maintains food and equipment inventory and service for kitchen equipment. In collaboration with the Head Chef s/he participates in and oversees meal preparation and service. S/he assists in the supervision and training of kitchen staff. This is a full-time position, scheduled Mondays - Fridays, 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Requirements
High School Diploma or GED, Culinary Degree, 5 years experience in employee dining service, cafeteria, or restaurant. Must be able to lift 50 pounds to the waist, i.e. kitchen equipment and supplies. NYC Food Safety certificate and supervision experience preferred. Bi-lingual English/Spanish or French useful.
