Special Colloquia
The Frick Collection invites you to attend a Study Day devoted to the special exhibition Gabriel de Saint-Aubin (1724–1780). An international roster of speakers will discuss the art and life of Gabriel
de Saint-Aubin in an interdisciplinary colloquium addressing questions of style, attribution and connoisseurship as well as contemporary social and cultural context. Speakers will include Colin B. Bailey, Kim de Beaumont,
Ewa Lajer-Burcharth, Colin Jones, Pierre Rosenberg, Katie Scott and Caroline Weber. For more information, follow this link.
A Symposium on the History of Art
For more than half a century, The Frick Collection and the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University have hosted a symposium for graduate students in art history. The symposium offers doctoral candidates in art history the opportunity to deliver papers of original research in a public forum and to engage with colleagues in the field — novice and expert.
The Symposium on the History of Art is presented by The Frick Collection and the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University.
Dialogues on Art
The Frick Art Reference Library introduced the "Dialogues on Art" series in 2000. These panel discussions, held annually, are conceived in recognition of the variety and depth of interest represented by the community of art professionals who use and support the Library. Each panel brings together noted specialists whose free exchange of ideas on a particular subject of art history, connoisseurship, or collecting is intended to stimulate questions and fresh thoughts for audience and participants alike. Center for the History of Collecting in America
The Center for the History of Collecting in America was established to stimulate awareness and study of the formation of fine- and decorative-arts collections, from Colonial times to the present, while asserting the relevance of this subject to art and cultural history. The Center’s public programs provide a forum for thoughtful exchange that may expand and further stimulate scholarship in this discipline. Its first symposium “Turning Points in Old Master Collecting, 1830-1940” co-sponsored by the Frick and Kress Foundation will take place on May 19, 2007.
