Books and Periodicals

The book collection consists of more than 285,000 titles and 2,250 periodicals, of which 750 are active subscriptions. Monographs, general works, and reference materials are acquired with respect to the scope of the collections. Catalogs of public and private collections date back to the eighteenth century. Exhibition catalogs are acquired no matter how small and this has resulted in an extensive and rare collection of exhibition pamphlets, checklists, broadsides, and other ephemera from as early as the beginning of the nineteenth century. Approximately 6,000 books are acquired annually through purchase, gift, and depository participation by museums, art dealers, private collectors, and authors. Books acquired as gifts or through endowed book funds are acknowledged with bookplates and a credit line in FRESCO. For book donations, complete the Book Donor Credit Form to include with donated items.

For book and periodical titles, search FRESCO.

For current periodical subscriptions, search FRESCO.
