Jeongho Park is The Frick Collection’s first Anne L. Poulet Curatorial Fellow. Park is a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, where he is writing under the direction of Jonathan Brown. His dissertation will offer the first comprehensive study of El Greco’s portraiture, examining independent portraits, individual likenesses of saints, and portraits incorporated into religious paintings. He has previously held several prestigious fellowships, including the Theodore Rousseau Fellowship at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (2011-12). His recent publications include “Social Status of the Painter in New Spain: A Partial Success Story” (Art History and Visual Culture, vol. 8, Seoul, 2009) and “Early Modern Spanish Paintings: A Critical Review” (Spanish Art and Culture, Seoul National University Press, 2010).
