Resize Text

Thumnail of the front page of a symposium program featuring 1827 Sir Thomas Lawrence portrait of Lady Peel.

Fifteen speakers examined British collecting practices during the nineteenth century and discussed how subsequent generations of American collectors embraced the British tradition while developing their own models of collecting, both privately and for the public good.

This symposium was made possible through the generosity of the Samuel H. Kress Foundation.
