Supporters of the Frick and their friends annually look forward to the Young Fellows Ball, now in its fourteenth year and one of the most highly regarded and widely covered social events of the New York season. This year’s Dance of Time, on Thursday, April 4, was sponsored by Donna Karan New York, and took its inspiration from the special exhibition of historic timepieces in the new Portico Gallery, Precision & Splendor: Clocks and Watches at The Frick Collection

About 600 guests filled the elegant Garden Court and Music Room for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and dancing to music spun by DJ Hannah Bronfman. They also enjoyed the special exhibition and stepped back in time in the galleries that were once the private residence of Henry Clay Frick and his family (this great collector carefully assembled a remarkable group of masterpieces including paintings by Degas, Fragonard, Goya, Manet, Rembrandt, Turner, Vermeer, Whistler, and others, as well as Renaissance bronzes, Limoges enamels, and French and Italian furniture). There’s nothing quite like the chance to enjoy the historic Frick mansion at night.

In the gift bags, guests received Donna Karan Lenox chopsticks from Donna Karan Home. The bags also included products from Chantecaille Beauté, Financier Patisserie, Tervis Tumbler Co., the Frick’s Museum Shop, and gift cards from Uber and onefinestay.

American Harvest Organic Spirit provided vodka, William Grant & Sons provided Hendrick’s Gin, Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch, and Milagro Tequila. Two wines were graciously donated by Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars.  Fans of mixology enjoyed three signature cocktails: a grapefruit-flavored Harvest Spring Sparkler; Hendrick’s Breeze, a cranberry cocktail; and a Milagro Tequila Margarita.  Caterer Olivier Cheng complemented the elegant, timeless mood of the evening with classic savory food and inspired desserts.

Proceeds from the benefit provide essential support for the Frick’s education program, which serves New York City public schools in all five boroughs, and for the Frick Art Reference Library
