Background

The Frick Collection is an art museum consisting of more than 1,100 works of art from the thirteenth to the nineteenth century, displayed in the intimate surroundings of the former home of Henry Clay Frick. The residence, with its furnishings and works of art, has been open to the public since 1935. The Frick Art Reference Library is an internationally-recognized research library that serves as one of the most complete resources for the study of Western art. Founded in 1920, the Library today holds more than one million study photographs, 285,000 books, 80,000 auction catalogs, and 2,250 periodical titles. It is open to interested individuals from all over the world.

Position Summary

The Executive Assistant to the Deputy Director for External Affairs supports all aspects of day-to-day operations for the Deputy Director and serves as a liaison internally and externally for the general External Affairs office. External Affairs includes all fundraising and development, public relations and marketing, and non-curatorial publications for the Collection. The Frick is embarking on the largest enhancement campaign in its history and the Executive Assistant will play an important role in this campaign. The Administrative Assistant will maintain a high level of discretion regarding fundraising and other confidential matters. S/he will interact with constituents at all levels throughout the institution as well as Trustees and donors.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of office experience as an assistant, preferably in a cultural institution. Interest in the visual arts preferred. Excellent organizational skills, ability to play close attention to detail and well-versed in standard administrative practices and procedures. Computer literacy in a Windows environment. Takes initiative, is self-directed, and helpful and supportive of colleagues, maintains a good sense of humor while meeting deadlines. Practices a strong sense of discretion and good judgement. An exceptional multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize and work well under pressure. Possesses effective verbal and written communication skills. Experience working in a development office/fund raising a plus.
