Closer Look: Degas's "Rehearsal"
In this episode of Closer Look, Rebecca Miralrio, Hunter Mellon Arts Fellow, discusses Edgar Degas's Rehearsal, on display on the fourth floor of Frick Madison. Rebecca explores the painting's formal elements and Degas's deep, perhaps obsessive, interest in depicting ballet dancers—culminating in the production of around 1,500 works on the subject. This is the second episode in a series of three, featuring the Education Department's 2021 summer interns each taking an in-depth look at one object in our collection.
