Academic Programs

The Center's academic program encompasses both graduate and undergraduate seminars, offered either as independent courses through adjunct teaching by the Center's staff or in conjunction with courses taught by university faculty at Columbia University and at NYU's Institute of Fine Arts.

The Center also offers workshops on an ad hoc basis for graduate courses focused on the history of collecting, with special attention to primary documents.

Study Days

The Center organizes occasional study days focused on the collecting background for major museum exhibitions. Past study days include one for The Philippe de Montebello Years: Curators Celebrate Three Decades of Acquisitions at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and another on Collecting Byzantine and Islamic Art.
