Oral and Video Histories

The Center facilitates oral and video histories of dealers and collectors who played a formative role in shaping American collecting during the twentieth century. These oral and video histories of contemporary collectors will create primary documentation for future scholars on the history of collecting in America, and, in some cases, on living artists as well.

Sponsored by Barbara Fleischman, the Center collaborated with the Archives of American Art on a project to produce oral histories of collectors. Collectors interviewed include, among others, George Abrams, Eli and Edythe Broad, Douglas Cramer, Hester Diamond, Barney Ebsworth, Fleur Bresler, Tony Ganz, Mimi Haas, Paula and Peter Lunder, Steve Martin, Cheech Marin, Robert Meyerhoff, Si and Victoria Newhouse, Jon Shirley, Jordan Schnitzer, Clifford Schorer, Alfred Taubman, Alice Walton, Virginia Wright, Hanford Yang, and Helen Zell.
