Museum Research

Museum curatorial and conservation staff conduct research on the collections, their context and provenance.

Temporary exhibitions, which often include artworks borrowed from other collections that relate to items in The Frick Collection, are seen as an important form of research and constitute an original contribution to knowledge. They are also opportunities to disseminate the results of that research. Normally, exhibitions are accompanied by publications, a lecture program, and an international study day.

Conservation staff are continually researching the construction and history of objects in The Frick Collection as well as past and possible future treatments. They disseminate the results in talks, conference papers, and publications.

The Education Department organizes the Symposium on the History of Art with colleagues at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.
