An important goal of the Photoarchive is to increase awareness of the research potential of this unique collection. To achieve this end, the Photoarchive staff has undertaken a variety of initiatives.

The Head of Photoarchive Research frequently conducts orientations and research methods workshops for graduate students in art history and library science as well as for members of professional organizations. These workshops highlight the collection's value when used in combination with texts and electronic resources.

Members of the staff regularly collaborate with other photographic archives across the United States and Europe, maintain active affiliations with leading research institutions, and participate in conferences and publications pertaining to the field.

The Photoarchive offers internship opportunities during the summer and occasionally during the academic year in addition to volunteer opportunities to individuals with suitable experience.
