Tray from Gouthiere side table with gilt mask

The inspiration for this tray is the central mask on the Side Table, commissioned in 1781 and considered one of Pierre Gouthière’s masterpieces. Gouthière, the virtuoso bronze chaser and gilder who worked for Louis XV and Louis XVI, created the neoclassical bronzes for the table with characteristically unsurpassed technique, emphasizing subtle contrast between surfaces and bringing depth to the sculptural mounts.

Porcelain, 4 x 12 in.

Hand washing recommended, not for use in the microwave
