Sèvres Porcelain Shaped Notecard Collection

Between 1916 and 1918, Henry Clay Frick (1849–1919) purchased several important pieces of porcelain to decorate his New York mansion. Made at Sèvres, the preeminent eighteenth-century French porcelain manufactory, the objects were displayed throughout Frick’s new residence. He wanted his residence to eventually become a public museum for the presentation of his extraordinary collection of old master paintings and wished to have the paintings surrounded by exquisite furniture and decorative objects, as they were in the homes of the great European collectors.
