On the wall of the fortress: Quarterly 1 Per saltire argent and gules, a Maltese cross in chief counterchanged; 2 Per saltire vert and Or, in chief and in base a bend gules and along the dexter and sinister flank the words Ave Maria read from the fess point sable; 3 Checky Or and azure; 4 Gules, a crescent reversed argent (Portocarrero).
 
On the flag at the stern of the ship, the arms of Spain composed of: Quarterly 1 & 4 Gules, a castle Or port and windows azure (Castile); 2 & 3 Argent, a lion rampant purpure crowned Or (Léon).
