The Frick Collection announces that Spain is the inspiration of its highly anticipated Young Fellows Ball, to be held on Thursday, March 9, 2006, from 8:30 p.m. to midnight in the museum’s celebrated Beaux-Art mansion on 70th Street and Fifth Avenue. Henry Clay Frick (1849–1919) was an avid and important American collector of Spanish painting, and works by Goya, El Greco, and Velázquez are among the institution’s treasures. Furthermore, with its critically acclaimed special exhibition Goya’s Last Works, the Frick is focusing on the surprising late innovations of one of these great masters, now through May 14. This seventh annual themed fund-raising gala has been held every winter beginning in 2000 and has been named by The New York Times as one of the top parties of the year. Tickets to the past six events—A Dance in the Golden Age, Men’s Club, The Edwardian Ball, The Tartan Ball, Fête des Quatre Saisons, An Evening of Nouveau Glamour—sold out quickly to supporters of the Collection and their guests. Hundreds of people are expected to attend this year’s party. The leadership is comprised of chairmen: Lauren Davis, Tinsley Mortimer, Emilia Fanjul Pfeifler, Elisabeth Saint-Amand, and Victoria Traina, who are joined by Honorary Chairmen Vera Wang, Marina Rust Connor, Lauren du Pont, Nathalie Gerschel Kaplan, Martha Loring, and Aerin Lauder Zinterhofer. Proceeds will provide essential support for the Education Program of The Frick Collection, which serves New York City public schools in all five boroughs.
