Introduction to Fashion Research

On April 28, the Frick Art Research Library hosted Steph Noell, Head Librarian at Arizona State University’s California Center Library (formerly the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising Library). Her session outlined research methodologies for studying fashion history and highlights influential print and digital resources, including books, websites, and subscription databases. The program gave an overview of the specialized research institutions and archives available for those who wish to delve deeper into the study of fashion.

This program was part of Fashion Week at the Frick (April 28 to May 4), a celebration of art and dress inspired by the exhibitions Gainsborough: The Fashion of Portraiture and Ruffles & Ribbons: Fashion Plates from the Time of Marie Antoinette.
