Virtual Workshop: PHAROS: The International Association of Photo Archives

On April 15, 2026, Samantha Deutch and the Frick Art Research Library hosted a virtual lunchtime workshop led by art historian and independent scholar Louisa Wood Ruby.

Participants learned how scholars can utilize the newly remodeled PHAROS research platform, which provides access to millions of photo archive images and scholarly documentation from thirteen collections worldwide, including the Frick Photoarchive. The session showcased PHAROS’s key features, demonstrating how the platform advances art research, from image analysis to provenance study to attribution.
