Transportation Information

  • By Subway: 6 train to 68th Street and Lexington Avenue, Q train to 72nd Street and Second Avenue, or NRW train to 59th Street and Fifth Avenue. From the Q, transfer to the crosstown M72 bus to Fifth Avenue and 69th Street.
  • By Bus: northbound M1, M2, M3, and M4 to Madison Avenue and 69th Street, southbound M1, M2, M3, and M4 to Fifth Avenue and 69th Street, or crosstown M72 bus to Fifth Avenue and 69th Street.
  • Citi Bike rental stations are located at Fifth Avenue and 72nd Street, 72nd Street and Park Avenue, and 68th Street and Madison Avenue.
  • Limited street parking is available. There are parking garages in the area.
  • Taxis and rideshares may drop off in front of the main entrance at 1 East 70th Street. Vehicles may not idle in front of the museum.
  • Library and group entrance is located at 10 East 71st Street.

Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?

Can I rebook my tickets?

We are unable to accommodate requests to rebook tickets.

What time do the galleries close?

Our doors close 30 minutes before the museum’s closing time. You may stay in the galleries until closure. Security guards will make an announcement 15 minutes beforehand. See more information on museum hours.

What are your security procedures?

A security officer will inspect your bag upon entry. For more information and for a list of prohibited items, see Security Procedures.

May I bring a child in a stroller or backpack?

No, only children ages 10 and older are admitted in the galleries because few ropes or cases are used to protect fragile objects. If two people are coming with a child, we suggest that one wait with the child in the Reception Hall while the other visits the galleries.

Are you open late any evening?

The museum has extended evening hours on Fridays and for select programs. Join our mailing list to receive announcements about upcoming programs.

May I reserve tickets for a group visit?

Groups of 10 or more people may reserve tickets together. Please book group reservations at least two weeks in advance. See Group Reservations for more information.

The Frick participates in the Museums for All program, granting free admission to SNAP/EBT cardholders with photo ID and up to three guests.

Is there a time I can enter for free or pay what I wish?

We offer pay-what-you-wish admission (with advance reservations required) on Wednesdays from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Do you offer complimentary admission to AAM, ICOM, and reciprocal members?

Two complimentary tickets are provided to AAM, ICOM, and reciprocal members (ROAM and NARM) for the next available time slot. Present a valid ID or membership card at the Admissions Desk.

Are there dining facilities?

Photography

May I take photographs?
